Two Hizb militants killed in Jammu and Kashmir
December 14th, 2009 - 2:56 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Dec 14 (IANS) Two militants of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terror outfit were killed in a gun battle with security forces Monday in Jammu and Kashmir’s mountainous Doda district, police said.
Acting on information received about the presence of a group of militants in the Gandoh forest area of Doda, about 200 km northeast of Jammu, security forces cordoned off the area and a gun fight ensued in the morning, said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police (Doda-Kishtwar range) Deepak Kumar.
He said two militants of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were killed and one of them has been identified as Nasir, a top commander of the group.
Security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the slain militants who hailed from Doda district, Kumar said. He added that searches were under way in the area.
