Ukhrul (Manipur), Feb 19 (ANI): The normal life in Manipur continues to be disrupted for the second day following a general strike called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of three state government employees in Ukhrul district by some unknown persons.
The JAC has alleged inefficiency on the part of the Ukhrul district Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of police with regard to the killing of SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan, his driver and a Revenue Department employee under mysterious circumstances.
Mutilated bodies of the Kishan and his two co-workers were recovered from a Senapati district location on February 17 morning, after the trio was reportedly abducted by unidentified armed persons from an Ukhrul district area on February 13.
The 48-hour strike, which began on Tuesday midnight, has caused a complete shutdown of markets across the state with no vehicles are visible on the roads.
The state cabinet has decided to handover the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
However, some political parties are demanding a judicial inquiry into the killing.
