Two BSF personnel critically injured in militant attack in J-K
January 2nd, 2010 - 8:34 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Srinagar, Jan. 2 (ANI): Two BSF personnel were critically injured as militants opened fire in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
Constable Davinder of 75th battalion and Saifullah of 25th battalion of BSF were shot at from close range when they were withdrawing money from an ATM near the outer gate of a medical institute around 11.15 am.
Both of them have been admitted to a hospital in a critical condition. Police and paramilitary forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched an operation to nab the militants.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said that pistol shooting incidents by the militants have increased and the main aim of these attacks appears to create fear among the people of Kashmir valley and disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the valley.
“Pistol shooting incidents by militants have increased in Kashmir since last few months especially in Srinagar and Sopore regions. I think the militants are carrying such attacks to derail the peace process between India and Pakistan,” said Prabhakar Tripathy, public relations officer, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). (ANI)
