Turkistan Islamic Party threatens Beijing OlympicsAugust 8th, 2008 - 1:40 pm ICT by ANI
Ankara, Aug 8 (ANI): Issuing a new threat against the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) has warned Muslims to stay away from the games or be within the vicinity.
The threat was issued in a six-minute video named “Call to the Global Muslim Ummah”.
According to the Site Intelligence Group, the speaker identifies himself as a representative of TIP, and in a warning said: “Do not stay on the same bus, on the same train, on the same plane, in the same buildings, or any place the Chinese are.”
“Choose your side”, the speaker urges Muslims.
The representative also calls upon Muslims to offer support financially, physically, spiritually, and by their words.
The video features graphics similar to ones used earlier: a burning Olympics logo and an explosion imposed over an apparent Olympic venue. It bears a production date of August 1, 2008.
Last month, the militant group issued similar videotaped threats and claimed responsibility for a series of bus bombings in China in recent months. (ANI)
