Truck driver shot dead in Kashmir (Lead)
February 27th, 2011 - 11:53 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Feb 27 (IANS) Separatist guerrillas gunned down a truck driver in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Saturday evening, police said.A senior police officer said pistol shots were at Muhammad Ayub Wani, a truck driver by profession as he was returning home after offering prayers in the local mosque in Kakpora town, 28 km from Srinagar.
“Ayub succumbed to the critical bullet injuries before he could be shifted to hospital,” the officer said.
Two brothers of the slain driver are working in the state police, according to sources.
No guerrilla group has yet claimed responsibility for the killing.
