New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): A team of Trinamool Congress leaders will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh this evening and apprise him of the alleged deteriorating law and order situation in West Bengal.
The delegation comprising of Mukul Roy, Dinesh Trivedi, Subroto Roy and Partha Chatterjee, will talk about the alleged misuse of central forces by West Bengal government, financial bankruptcy of state and the recent spate of political killings.
The delegation will meet Dr. Singh at his 7 Race Course Road residence at6.45 p.m.
This comes a day after Railway Minister and Trinamool Chief Mamata claimed that she can prove that Central forces were being misused by the Bengal government against Trinamool cadres.
On Wednesday, Banerjee has said that she was ready to quit if she could not prove that the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) was misusing central security forces brought for anti-Maoist operations in West Bengal.
“The CPI (M) is misusing the central forces. I would have nothing to say if the central forces were used against Maoists. If I cannot prove that the central forces are being misused by the CPI(M), I am ready to quit,” she added
She said that despite several complaints against the alleged atrocities perpetuated by central forces against the common people still no action has been taken on the issue.
“Regarding atrocities, we met the Home Minister so many times, we complained. But nothing is being done. The atrocities are still there,” she said.
“We have been stating repeatedly that state sponsored violence is going on. How many times we will have to say this? Our party met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram 20 times,” she added.
She also hinted that Trinamool Congress was ready to go it alone in the forthcoming assembly elections in the state if there was no action from the UPA government on restraining the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government from unleashing central forces on their political opponents. (ANI)
