Trans-Atlantic bombers packed condoms, porn magazines in luggage to avoid detection
April 5th, 2008 - 1:31 pm ICT by admin ( 1 comment ) London, Apr.5 (ANI): The eight Islamic extremists facing trial in Britain for their alleged role in attempting to blow-up Trans-Atlantic passenger jets in the middle of 2006, reportedly packed condoms and pornographic magazines in their hand luggage, to avoid the suspicion of airport security staff as to their extremist antecedents.
Prosecutors at a court hearing on Friday made this startling revelation.
It was also revealed that these Islamic extremists had prepared martyrdom videos ahead of their planned dastardly crime. Prosecutors said videos recorded by two of the eight extremists were discovered in the boot of a car after police swooped down on the vehicle in Walthamstow in August 2006.
Members of the jury stared intently at the dock as individual footage showing six of the men shouting their fanatical beliefs and desire to kill echoed loudly round the courtroom. Each man was shown speaking while wearing Islamic dress in front of a black backdrop featuring Arabic lettering.
According to the Queens Counsel, Peter Wright, The recordings of these men were significant because they amounted to recordings in which each of these men contemplated losing their lives in some violent act perpetrated by them as a perceived act of martyrdom in the name of Islam.
Wright told the jury that had the atrocity succeeded; it would have had a truly global impact.
Jets carrying around 2,000 passengers of United Airlines, American Airlines and Air Canada had been selected. Each flight was to depart from London Heathrow airports Terminal 3 and a homemade liquid explosive was to have been injected with syringes into bottles of Lucozade and Oasis.
Eighteen potential suicide bombers are thought to have been involved raising the possibility that more than seven aircraft were to have been attacked.
The accused –Ali, Sarwar, Tanvir Hussain, Gulzar, Ibrahim Savant, Arafat Waheed Khan, Waheed Zaman, and Umar Islam deny all charges of conspiring to murder and to commit an act of violence likely to endanger the safety of an aircraft.
According to The Sun and The Telegraph, these Muslim fanatics also discussed “sacrificing” their wives and babies.
The alleged “martyrdom” plot, which was just “a couple of weeks” from fruition, also included plans to attack nuclear power stations, oil refineries and the skyscrapers of London’s Canary Wharf, the court was told.
These excerpts appear in six “chilling” alleged suicide videos in which the defendants said they would “scatter body parts” over the streets in revenge for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. (ANI)
