Tragedy averted in Srinagar, after hurled grenade fails to explodeDecember 25th, 2007 - 9:49 pm ICT by admin
Srinagar, Dec 25 (ANI): Suspected militants today hurdled a grenade at a crowded market place in Srinagar, but the tragedy was avoided as the grenade failed to explode. The live grenade, which failed to explode, was later diffused by security agencies.
The incident took place at a crowded market place at Batmaloo in Srinagar.
According to police officials, if the grenade had exploded it would have left scores of people injured or dead as the spot is close to the General Bus Stand from where bus service is operated to whole north Kashmir, and usually remains crowded.
Police officials further added that the possible target of the grenade was the security force picket located in the area.
No militant outfit has, so far, claimed responsibility for the attack. (ANI)
