Tragedy averted as Kingfisher plane skids off runway, all 42 passengers safe
November 10th, 2009 - 8:31 pm ICT by ANIMumbai, Nov.10 (ANI): A major tragedy was averted on Tuesday evening when a Mumbai-bound Kingfisher aircraft IT-4124 carrying 42 passengers from Bhavnagar,Gujarat, skid off the runway while landing here at the airport.
Only half of the runway was being used due to repair. The plane landed on shortened runway. It landed nose deep in mud.
Though none of the onboard 42 passengers was hurt in the incident, the pilot was reportedly slightly hurt, said a Star News report.
The aircraft made the landing at the Mumbai airport reportedly despite DGCA warning.
The incident is stated to have happened due to poor visibility and wet conditions.
The DGCA had earlier warned all airlines not to operate in adverse conditions.
Kingfisher, as per reports, has de-rosterd both the pilots of the aircraft, pending investigation. (ANI)
