Traffic suspended on Srinagar-Jammu highway due to snowfall
January 30th, 2010 - 12:59 pm ICT by ANISrinagar, Jan 30 (ANI): Traffic has been suspended on the 300 kilometer long Srinagar-Jammu national highway due to slippery conditions caused by heavy snowfall, leaving hundreds of trucks, passenger buses and tourist vehicles stranded.
Jawahar Tunnel Traffic Inspector Manzoor Ahmed said, “For the safety of passengers and heavy vehicles, we have blocked the highway for vehicular traffic since 9 a.m., so that they don’t face any problem.”
The stranded passengers were having a tough time due to traffic suspension.
Vijay Kumar, a tourist said, “We are stranded here since 10 a.m. I don’t think we will be able to move ahead. We are stranded in our vehicles.”
The Srinagar-Jammu national highway connects Jammu and Kashmir to the rest of India. (ANI)
