March 31st, 2011 - 9:16 pm ICT by IANSJammu, March 31 (IANS) Acting on the unanimous resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly seeking action against a senior bureaucrat for allegedly insulting a legislator, the government Thursday ordered the officer be shifted to another department.
The government ordered Principal Secretary (Health and Medical Education) R.K. Jerath be attached to the general administration department.
An official spokesman said: “The government has ordered the transfer of Principal Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department R.K. Jerath and attached him to the General Administration Department (GAD) with immediate effect.”
BJP legislator Lal Chand of Bani assembly constituency had raised the issue in the house on March 29, saying Jerath insulted him during a meeting.
The government also ordered that the Principal Secretary to the housing and urban development department, Suresh Kumar, “will hold the additional charge of the post of Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department till further orders.”
This is the first time that the government has acted on the recommendations of the MLAs vis-a-vis a senior bureaucrat in Jammu and Kashmir.
