Dharamsala, Apr 13 (ANI): Tibetan lawmakers on Wednesday said the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Chinese President Hu Jinato on the sidelines of the BRICS summit would help in developing bilateral relations between the two nations.
Tibetan government in-exile spokesperson Thubten Samphel said the meeting is essential to enhance relations between the two countries, which will perk up situation of Asia.
“I think this meeting between the Prime Ministers- India and China is extremely important to develop a good friendly relations based on mutual trust. India and China are the two most important economies and the countries in Asia. So, I personally feel good relations between India and China will improve the overall situation in Asia, and will contribute to peace in Asia,” said Samphel.
Meanwhile, Dolma Gayri, Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, said: “I think it is a matter of great significance, at all times, especially for this part of Asia or this part of World, when the heads of two biggest nations, in this part of Asia meets.”
Heads of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), five of the world’s top emerging economies would be meeting in Sanya on Thursday to discuss a coordinated stance on international issues.
The BRICS group has emerged as a loose united front to press the rich Western economies, especially the United States, which has traditionally dominated global diplomacy.
Yet there are many disparities among the BRICS member countries, and the past two summits of the evolving group have not achieved much.
This time, strains over China’s currency policies and trade surpluses could make concrete agreement difficult to reach.
The forthcoming BRICS Summit is the third in a row. The first one took place in Yekaterinburg in Russia on June 2009 while the second was hosted at Brasilia in April 2010. (ANI)
