Three ultras killed in Assam encounter
December 31st, 2007 - 5:19 pm ICT by adminGuwahati, Dec 31 (ANI): Three ultras belonging to the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) were killed and another injured in an encounter with security forces in the Dibru-Saikhowa Reserve Forest area.
The deceased ultras were believed to be fresh recruits who had returned recently from Myanmar to carry out a major strike in the state.
Acting on a tip-off that five to six ultras were camping in the area, the Army launched an operation, defence sources said.
A pistol, two grenades, 400 ammunitions of various kinds and two Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) have been retrieved from the encounter site. (ANI)
