Three rape accused face public wrath in SuratJune 13th, 2009 - 7:52 pm ICT by ANI
Surat (Gujarat), June 13 (ANI): Three men accused of a gang
rape of a 17-year-old girl in a moving car, were beaten up by an enraged mob
while there were being taken to a local hospital for medical tests in Surat.
The police tried to calm the mob and tried to take away the
victims but it was difficult to control the infuriated mob.
“One of the men was mishandled but there were no
serious injuries,” said Subhash Trivedi, Deputy Commissioner of Police,
crime branch, Surat.
A class 12 student was allegedly raped while she was on her
way back from her tuition classes on Friday.
The police had nabbed the three accused -Shahid Saiyad,
Tariq Qutubuddhin Saiyad and Abu Bakr Sheikh- within eight hours of the crime.
Two of the accused are sons of police personnel, while the
third owns a mobile repair shop. (ANI)
