Three militants, soldier killed in Kashmir gunfight
March 30th, 2010 - 9:16 pm ICT by IANSJammu, March 30 (IANS) Three militants and an Indian army soldier were killed in a fierce gun battle in the mountainous Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday evening, officials said.
According to police sources, a group of militants were reported to be hiding in Kandi area of Rajouri, 200 km northwest of Jammu. Security forces, comprising the army and police, cordoned off the area and thereafter a fierce gun battle began in the evening.
A soldier was also injured in the battle, according to latest reports.
The identity of the killed militants is being ascertained, an official said.
In another gun battle going on in Kalakot in the same district, one police inspector was injured. Further details are awaited.
