Threat to US, Australia embassies in Jakarta if Bali bombers were executedNovember 4th, 2008 - 2:51 pm ICT by ANI
Jakarta , Nov 4 (ANI): Unidentified terrorists have reportedly threatened to blow up the US and Australian embassies in Indonesia if the three Bali bombers were executed.
The three are expected to be executed in a day or two by placing them before a firing squad. Two days ago their relatives were asked to meet them in jail.
Following the threat from unidentified location, the Indonesian Police were investigating to trace those behind it.
A bomb threat against the U.S. and Australian embassies was sent via a mobile phone text message, The News quoted National Police spokesman Abubakar Nataprawira as saying.
He added that an investigation was underway into the threat.
Indonesian news agency quoted Central Jakarta police spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Heri Wibowo as saying that the text message threatened to blow up the two embassies if the three militants were executed.
Tristram Perry, a spokesman for the U.S. embassy in Jakarta , said that the embassy remained open even after the threat.
Around 202 foreign tourists, mostly Australians, were killed in the 2002 bombings, described as one of the worst in the countrys history. (ANI)
