Terrorists use Internet as most potent tool for recruitment, says Pillai
March 7th, 2011 - 10:18 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Mar 7 (ANI): Union Home Secretary G K Pillai today said that terrorists are using the Internet as the most effective tool for recruiting youngsters and to carry out surveillance operations in the country.
Addressing a conference on the challenge posed by cyber crimes organised by NASSCOM’s Data Security Council and Deloitte here today, Pillai said: “Terrorist attacks like that in Mumbai were facilitated by communications from the handlers over Internet. The government is in the process of reviewing and updating the national cyber security strategy to improve data security.”
“Government has formulated a crisis management plan and created a national computer emergency response team CERT-IN which is the national nodal agency in the cyber security and also works with international partners,” he added.
Speaking at the conference, Pillai also laid emphasis on the issue of improving cyber security certification system in the country. (ANI)
