Bangalore, Oct.10 (ANI): Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar achieved a significant feat here on Sunday, as he became the first ever player in the history of Test cricket to have scored 14,000 mark.
Playing in the 171 Test match of his Test career, Tendulkar completed 14000-run mark on Day 2 of the second Test against
Australia, as he moved ahead of 50 runs stand with Murali Vijay after India lost Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid.
In his Test career, Tendulkar has scored 14,017* runs at an average of 56.29 runs in 171 matches with 248 not out being his
highest score.
He made his Test debut on November 15 in 1989 against India’s arch rival team Pakistan.
Sachin is the leading run-scorer and century maker in Test and One Day International cricket. He is the only player to score
a double century in the history of ODI cricket.
In 2002, just 12 years into his career, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Donald
Bradman, and the second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards.
In September 2007, the Australian leg spinner Shane Warne rated Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or
against.
Tendulkar was the only player of the current generation to be included in Bradman’s Eleven.
Meanwhile, playing in the first inning of the second Test match in Bangalore, Australia managed to score 478 runs, all out.
India scored 128 for 2 in 34.2 overs at the end of the play on Sunday in its first inning.
India trail by 350 runs with 8 wickets.
Sachin Tendulkar was playing at 44 with Murali Vijay who contributed 22 runs and remained not out by the end of the day today. (ANI)
