Telugu Desam manifesto promises food and health security
April 2nd, 2009 - 7:41 pm ICT by ANIHyderabad, Apr 2 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday released his party’s manifesto for the upcoming general elections.
The manifesto has promised to implement a slew of measures aimed at empowering every section of the society.
“If voted to power, the TDP will insure economic, food and health security,” Naidu told reporters while releasing party’s manifesto at NT Rama Rao Trust Bhavan here.
The 64-page manifesto has promised a cash transfer scheme for the vulnerable sections, free colour television to families living below poverty line, comprehensive health insurance covering ailments from fever to heart problems, creation of 1,250 Modern Development Corridors for generation of about 25 lakh jobs and creation of a Rs 1,000 crore market stabilisation fund for the agriculture sector.
Promising to provide a Rs. 500-crore Farmers Protection Fund, the manifesto said it would ensure a monthly unemployment benefit of Rs. 1,000 to unemployed youth and creation of 50 lakh jobs in government and private sectors.
When asked about Telangana, the TDP leader said his party would take all required legal and political steps for creation of a separate state. (ANI)
