New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): Three teenagers, who represented India at the Junior-8 Youth Summit held last week at L’Aguila in Italy, arrived in the national capital on Tuesday.

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) had chosen these three teenagers - Sanjukta Pangi, Samuel Venkatasen and Narendra Kumar - to represent India at the J-8 summit, a meeting of young people from the countries participating in the G8 summit.

“When we went there, we were talking about four topics. The education topic was not there and it was proposed by Indian students. So, on that score I am happy. I am also happy that the declaration is carrying three of my points,” said Samuel Venkatasen.

“One is about quality education. I spoke about quality education, which is there in declaration and second thing is about a monitoring team. The school children have to monitor the school happenings. That point was proposed by me,” Venkatasen added.

Sanjukta Pangi, a tribal girl from Orissa, acknowledged her gratitude to UNICEF for having given her an opportunity to express her views at such a global forum.

“When I met the Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh), it was the biggest day of my life because never in my dreams had I imagined that I would be meeting him some day,” said Sanjukta Pangi.

“Not only him I met the ministers (leaders) of other countries as well and when I told Prime Minister that I am tribal and come from a backward area, he was shocked and then introduced me to other ministers (leaders). I felt very proud of myself,” Pangi added.

Meanwhile, Narendra Kumar articulated delight for attending a summit of such magnitude.

“I feel really good that I could express my feelings easily,” said Narendra Kumar. (ANI)
