Hyderabad, July 20 (ANI): A team of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Andhra Pradesh Police arrested Telugu Desam Party MLA T. V. Rama Rao on charges of molesting five girl students on Monday evening.

Rao, representing Kowur constituency in West Godavari district, was charged for molesting girl students of TVR College of Nursing in Nidadavolu in West Godavari district.Rao is the Chairman of this college.

Four representatives of the college Nimisha Jacobs, M.S. Leena, Neetu Sailanjan, Neetu Mooljoy and Dhanyalakshnmi met the State Home Minister P. Sabita Reddy on July 15 and gave a memorandum alleging that Rao attempted to rape one of them and misbehaved with others.

State CID registered the statements of these student representatives, on the direction of the state Home Minister Reddy.

Earlier, four other students of the same college, from Kerala had also accused Rao of having attempted to rape them.

In June, Rao was detained by the State police based on a complaint filed at the Kowur Police Station, in connection with rape and murder of a girl student. But he was released after questioning, as police could not find any evidence to prove the charges leveled against him in case.

Rao denied all charges against him, and said that it’s a political conspiracy against him.

Meanwhile, the student’s representatives also met State Governor N. D Tiwari.

The State Human Rights Commission Chairman B. Suhashan Reddy, has directed the State’s Health Secretary to provide free education for victims of this scam, and asked for the fresh inquiry into the allegation, which found Rao, guilty of molestation.

Earlier this months Rao’s family members started an indefinite fast demanding for withdrawal of cases against him. TDP President N.Chandrababu Naidu alleged the Congress Government of framing the legislator in false case. (ANI)
