- Srinagar, Nov 1(ANI): A policeman was killed and another wounded when gunmen opened fire on them in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Head constable Manzoor Ahmad and constable Abdul Kabir were on patrol at a busy street in Srinagar in the afternoon when they were shot at by suspected militants from a close range.
“Two security personnel were on duty. They were fired upon,” said Shyam Chand, Deputy Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force.
Several eyewitnesses said that the gunmen fled into the crowd following the commotion.
“We were sitting inside. We heard firing shots. We came out of the shop and saw people running here and there. We saw the two policemen lying drenched in blood,” said Faheem Ahmed, a local.
Meanwhile, security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt.
No rebel group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. (ANI)
