Suspected LeT man sent to police custody

New Delhi, Aug 26 (IBNS) A Delhi court Wednesday remanded suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist, who was arrested with explosives, to 14-day police custody.

Metropolitan magistrate Manish Yaduvanshi sent Mohd Aslam alias Saleem for custodial interrogation till September 9.

The 27-year-old suspected LeT man from Jammu and Kashmir, was allegedly carrying explosives in sweet boxes to deliver to his partners-in-crime at Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district. He was arrested as soon as he boarded down a train at New Delhi Railway Station around 12.40pm on Tuesday.

“He has disclosed names of his two associates who are still to be identified and located. He has links in Gujarat and Maharashtra,” public prosecutor Rajiv Mohan said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Alok Kumar said the terrorist’s identity card says his name is Salim, while his Pakistani passport identifies him as Yusuf.

“We have recovered detonators and explosive chemicals weighing around 2kg from him,” Kumar said.

He is the second terrorists to be arrested by Delhi Police this month. On August 6, the Special Cell had arrested two suspected Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists from Daryaganj area in central Delhi.
