Jammu, Jan 26 (IANS) Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj Wednesday mocked at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for inviting her and her colleagues to official Republic Day functions after detaining them for trying to hoist the national flag in Srinagar.Addressing a press conference here after her release along with Arun Jaitley and Ananth Kumar, she said: “We were given release orders at 12.40 p.m. while the official functions were over at 10 a.m. How could the chief minister expect the two leaders to attend the Republic Day function when they were in jail?”

Sushma Swaraj reiterated her party’s call to Omar Abdullah to “come and join us in unfurling the national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar”.

The comments from the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha came two days after police detained them at the Jammu airport when they landed from Delhi to take part in the Srinagar programme.

The Jammu and Kashmir government feared that the BJP programme might spark trouble in the Kashmir Valley.
