Supreme Court denies bail to rape accused Goa Politician
December 18th, 2009 - 6:15 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Goa Politician John Fernandes, an accused in the alleged rape of a Russian girl, was on Friday denied anticipatory bail by the Supreme Court.
In his petition, John Fernandes had mentioned and challenged the order of the Bombay High Court for canceling his anticipatory bail granted by a trial court.
A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said, “It is not a case for granting bail.”
It said Fernandes is accused of raping the Russian girl on December 1, and whether the allegation is correct or wrong, the apex court cannot grant anticipatory bail to Fernandes. (ANI)
