New Delhi/Chennai, Mar 16 (ANI): Janata Party President and telecom scam petitioner Subramanian Swamy suspecting a foul play in the reported suicide of former Telecom Minister A Raja’s aide Sadiq Batcha, on Wednesday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

“Sadiq Batcha was the chartered accountant and back man for Raja for a long time, as he belongs to the same area. But he was also a hard nut and therefore, he is not someone who can commit suicide in the ordinary course,” Swamy told reporters here.

“He played a very vital role in this whole gigantic scam of 2G. There would be a lot of people who would be worried about his cracking up, as they are worried about Raja cracking up, so whether is suicide or not, I would like the CBI to pronounce on it,” he added.

It is still not clear whether he hung himself or consumed poison. Batcha was rushed to the Apollo hospital here, where he was declared dead.

“He was found hanging in his room by his wife Banu,” said T Rajendran, Chennai Police Commissioner.

In an attempt to trace the unaccounted money and unearth the money trail into the 2G spectrum allocation scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had last month questioned Green House promoter Sadiq Batcha.

The probe agency had earlier in December last year raided Batcha’s home and office in connection with the scam.

He was the Managing Director of Green House Promoters, a real estate company, which had several multiple associations with A. Raja. (ANI)
