Mumbai, July 28 (ANI): Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students wing of opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a demonstration outside a school, who denied admission to Devika Rotawan, the young eyewitness of the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai.
They were protesting against the Indian Education Society’s New English School at Bandra (East) on Tuesday.
Reportedly, citing security reasons, the management of the school had initially denied admission to Rotawan.
This girl was nine years in age when she witnessed the Mumbai terror strike in 2008.
Speaking to media persons, Priyanaka, an activist of ABVP said that Devika has all rights to pursue her studies and she cannot be denied admission just because she gave a statement against a terrorist.
“The girl who has helped the country at such a young age, she has the full right to study. No one can deny her admission, where she has helped the country to arrest a terrorist,” said Priyanaka.
While the police rounded up the ABVP activists for staging the protest demonstration, two of their representatives accompanied by the parents of Devika Rotwan met the management of the school, which agreed to give her admission.
“Management discussed and they are ready to give her admission in fifth standard. Now Devika’s father is filling admission form and after filling that she will get admission and she will come to school from tomorrow,” said Udaysingh K Rathore, Senior Police Inspector, Bandra East Police Station.
