Students give baseball a shot, as US envoy promotes American sport in DelhiDecember 8th, 2007 - 10:50 pm ICT by admin
New Delhi, Dec 8 (ANI): US Ambassador David Mulford distributed baseball gears to school students here today, in a bid to popularise the American sport in India.
Mulford made a large-scale donation of baseball equipments to students.
“It is the American pastime and it seems to be spreading around the world. People from different countries come to play baseball in American major leagues. We see this spreading to India,” said Mulford.
“We are very supportive of this effort and there will be a large donation of equipment to the baseball programme here not only at the Embassy level but in India on a broader basis,” Mulford added.
The students were elated at receiving the gifts. One of the students termed baseball as fun filled and even better than cricket.
“It is a very active game, better than cricket. As compared to 11 players in cricket, there are only nine in baseball. It is a fun-filled game,” said Shambhu Natha, a student. (ANI)
