April 12th, 2011 - 10:22 pm ICT by ANIHaldwani, Apr 12 (ANI): In an endeavor to achieve overall development and become fearless to respond to emergency situations, the students underwent training in adventure sports here on Tuesday.
The ten-day adventure sports camp, which has been organized by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department, imparts training in rock climbing, rappelling, trekking Burma bridge, commando net and river rescue.
Praveen Upreti, the instructor of the camp, said the students were being trained to excel the technique of rock climbing and were also being briefed about the flora and fauna of the region.
“Our aim is that in this ten day course, we teach students rock climbing, giving details of the flora and fauna, knowledge of wildlife and trekking. This is the basic step of training so that these students excel in adventure sports, which are popular in our state and make career in this field,” said Upreti.
“If the students take the adventure sports as a hobby their personality growth can be tremendous,” he added.
Vishal Kandpal, a trainee student said that adventure sports gave a new horizon to their career and also helped them to face the challenges of life with courage.
“We are learning about rock climbing here. Since our state is hit by various natural calamities we can rescue people by learning the art of rock climbing. We are getting ready to face the challenges and be brave enough to come out through problems,” said Kandpal. (ANI)
