Stuart Clark says Aussies scared to play in Delhi after Mehrauli blast
September 30th, 2008 - 12:30 pm ICT by ANIHyderabad , Sept 30 (ANI): The visiting Australian team is a scared lot these days after last Saturdays bomb blast in Mehrauli killing two persons, especially ahead of the third Test to be played at Ferozeshah Kotla in the Capital from October 29, said fast bowler Stuart Clark.
According to him, some of his team members and their families were nervous after a bomb exploded in a crowded marketplace in south Delhi killing two persons and injuring more than 20 people.
It is pretty fresh in everyones mind at the moment. We are still hanging out and waiting to see what will happen, but there is some sort of concern that we are going to somewhere where an explosion has just been. I would be lying if I said there wasn”t concern and that we are going to Delhi and there is that sort of thing going on, The Age quoted Clark as saying in an interview with an Australian radio station.
The visitors on-tour security consultant Frank Dimasi is learnt to have prepared a report on the Delhi blast for Cricket Australia (CA), which report does not make any recommendation about whether the Australians should play in Delhi . The decision regarding this will be made closer to October 29.
The Australians are supposed to be based in Delhi during a week-long break between the second and third Tests, coinciding with Diwali, added the paper.
Though many of the players will take advantage of the time off and take short holidays elsewhere, those who remain in Delhi , where Australia has not played a Test since 1996, would be cloaked by layers of security during the tour hiatus, it added. (ANI)
