Stray leopard spreads chaos in Thane
February 6th, 2011 - 1:04 pm ICT by ANIThane, Feb 6 (ANI): The sighting of a leopard spread panic among Thane District residents on Saturday.
Residents immediately informed the police about the leopard’s presence, and they arrived at the spot along with wildlife officials.
Media reports said the leopard had escaped from a nearby zoo and entered the congested residential area.
It was found stuck in a small hutment in the area.
Experts have opined that massive deforestation, poaching and people encroaching upon forest corridors have forced the wild animals to move out of their natural habitat in search of both food and water. (ANI)
