Lahore, July 20 (ANI): Staring seems to be one of the reasons for increasing incidents of knifing in Lahore.

In one such incident, a youngster stabbed his neighbour for staring at him in Gujjarpura, according to the Daily Times.

The two neighbours, Ikhlaq and Liaqat Gujjar got into an argument because Ikhlaq allegedly stared at Liaqat. Local residents interfered and calmed down the two.

However, the next day Liaqat said Ikhlaq again stared at him when they came across each other in the street. The two started fighting, and eventually Liaqat stabbed Ikhlaq and fled from the scene.

The police said that, initially, Ikhlaq and his brothers had refused to lodge a case against Liaqat and insisted that they would settle the score on their own. Later, on their elders intervention, they lodged the case against the accused, the police added.

A similar enmity resulted from staring in July 2005, claiming the life of an unidentified teenage passer-by at Sutar Mandi Chowk, inside Lohari Gate.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Pervaiz Rathore said, It is an important factor behind crimes in the walled city.

He said that residents of such areas often get into fights that can easily become life-long enmities. (ANI)
