Sanganer, Nov.16 (ANI): A maverick political candidate here has adopted a quite unusual method to draw voters” attention. He sprinkles Gangajal or the holy water of River Ganges all around during his campaigning. Rajendra Patel is contesting elections for the Rajasthan legislature from Sanganer near Jaipur on the ticket of former BJP leader Uma Bharati’’s newly floated Bharatiya Janashakti Party. He has undertaken the task of purifying his constituency by sprinkling holy water all around him, on roads in the lanes and by-lanes while campaigning in his constituency. The drama appears to be to influence Hindus, who revere River Ganga. According to Rajendra Patel and his supporters from the Bharatiya Janashakti Party, the Rajasthan Chief Minister failed to check mushrooming of liquor shop in Sanganer and hence there is need for purification. “We have collected Gangajal from five places and we are trying to purify our constituency by sprinkling Gangajal on roads since appeasing policies of Vasundhara Raje’’s Government towards liquor shops have led to this problem,” said Rajendra Patel, candidate of the Bharatiya Janashakti Party from Sanganer constituency. “Opening of liquor shops at every nook and corner of our city can further affect our youth. It can corrupt their mindset too. We have organised for a puja to ward off all the evil from our constituency,” Rajendra Patel added. Many non-drinkers believe the removal of liquor shops can benefit the youth and help the society at large. “We are very happy with the policies of Bharatiya Janashakti Party. I am extremely happy about their measures of purifying the roads by sprinkling Gangajal. These things will further inculcate all the right and correct habits in our youth,” said Kailash Sharma, a chemist in Sanganer. (ANI)
