Melbourne, Oct 10 (ANI): The Broadway interpretation of Spider-Man is set to become the most expensive musical in the history of theatre.

U2 frontman Bono - along with bandmate The Edge - will write the score for the upcoming New York show based on the comic book superhero.

The production, to be directed by Julie Taymor, currently has a total budget of 40 million dollars and is expected to have weekly running cost upwards of 1million dollars.

“She doesn”t care what it costs. Does not care at all. Her attitude is, it’’s for the art, and you don”t question artists,” News.com.au quoted a source, as saying.

However, sources say that the budget may have to drop to 35 million dollars, which would mean it would have to run for 8,000 years to break even.

The budget is being used to design lavish state sets and costumers.

The musical is expected to open in New York next year and is hoped to be staged at the Hilton Theatre. (ANI)
