Melbourne , June 3 (ANI): In a move to protest against the fur industry, animal rights activists in Sydney marched nude on the city’s streets. And, lending them a helping hand was Spanish singer Alaska , who earlier posed nude to protest against bull-fighting.

In order to launch Animal Liberation’s winter campaign against fur - a three-month long campaign - Sydney saw naked men and women trying to bring forth the cruelty of the fur industry over the winter months,

According to campaign manager Nicole Brown, the main aim of the group was to draw people’s attention to the ethical issues in relation with the use of fur for clothing.

“Despite the glamour associated with wearing fur we want to show people the cruelty behind the industry,” The Daily Telegraph quoted Brown, as saying.

The protests in Sydney come in line with the new anti-bull fighting campaign by animal rights activists PETA and AnimaNaturalis animal rights group in Spain, in which Alaska, one of Madrid’s most famous entertainers, shed her clothes and was photographed with three banderillas stuck in her back.

This was followed by protests in Sydney earlier this year, where near nude PETA activists went to Sydney ’s Opera House to protest against the cruelty of bullfighting.

And this latest campaign is preaching the slogan, The naked truth bullfighting is cruel. In fact, the singer spoke at the press conference to launch the campaign, and said that even now there are people whose attitudes are starting to change.

Alaska is the latest to join PETA’s eye-grabbing ad campaigns, which featured the likes of Naomi Campbell, Jenna Jameson, Pink, Eva Mendes and Alicia Silverstone.

It was photographer Juan Gatti, who captured the singer naked for the campaign and then added three banderillas spiked into her back.

Alaska said that she wanted to make a noise.

I probably wont convince the convinced but there are people who are starting to change. There is an animal, which has not asked to be there, she said. (ANI)
