New Delhi, Jan 5 (ANI): Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, on her first visit to India, met senior BJP leader L.K Advani here today.
Fernandez de la Vega’’s visit to India is seen as an attempt to further strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between India and Spain.
Spain, a key member state of the European Union (EU) had formulated a special plan titled “Plan India”, focusing on the increasing trade and energy cooperation particularly in wind energy with India initially.
Spain has shown keen interest in defence co-operation with India.
Trade between India and Spain is growing and has more than quadrupled from 900 million dollars in 2000 to 3985 million dollars in 2007.
The two countries established diplomatic relations more than five decades ago. (ANI)
