Sonia Gandhi to visit poll-bound Tamil Nadu, Puducherry

Sonia Gandhi New Delhi, Apr 4 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to address election meetings on Tuesday.

Gandhi will be addressing a public meeting in Chennai by 4 p.m Tuesday on returning from Puducherry.

Apart from Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, leaders of alliance partners, including the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the IUML, were expected to attend the public meeting in Chennai.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi would also be touring the western belt of the State on April 6 and 7 to address public meetings.

Rahul is expected to visit Erode, Karur, Vilathikulam and Karaikudi where many of the youth congress members are contesting.

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry go to the polls on April 13.

A total of 2,773 candidates will contest for seats in 234 Tamil Nadu Assembly constituencies. A total of 187 candidates will contests for Puducherry assembly elections. (ANI)
