Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry to get 80 % more funds

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): The Centre on Friday allotted Rs 4500 crore to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which marks a significant increase of 80 percent in comparison to last year.
Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in his Budget speech that this would help the social sector to emphasize more on the benefit of the SCs, STs, OBCs as well as the physically challenged people.
“The allocation will allow the Ministry to expand the various schemes it is running for the welfare of physically challenged and also for those belonging to SCs, STs and OBCs,” said Mukherjee.
The increased budgetary allocation would help the Ministry in enhancing scholarship amount for students from the backward classes, he added. (ANI)
