‘Slumdog Millionaire’ gets best adapted screenplay Oscar

Los Angeles, Feb 23 (IANS) British scriptwriter Simon Beaufoy won the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for “Slumdog Millionaire”, a rags-to-riches story of a Mumbai slum boy who goes on to win a quiz show.
Beaufoy won the award at a gala event at the Kodak Theatre here Sunday.
Directed by British filmmaker Danny Boyle, the film is based on Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup’s bestseller “Q & A” and got Oscar 10 nominations.
