Six die as boat capsizes in Kerala sanctuary
September 30th, 2009 - 8:36 pm ICT by ANIThekkadi (Kerala), Sep.30 (AN): In a tragic incident at least six persons, including two children, died when the boat they were riding on capsized in the Thekkadi wildlife sanctuary.
The mishap took place around 5.30 p.m when some of the persons on board suddenly veered on one side on sighting an animal. This tilted the balance of the boat and it capsized.
There were 80 persons, most of them from Karnataka, riding the boat when the tragedy occurred.
The State Government has requested for Naval helicopters for rescue operation. (ANI)
