The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest.

Defence ties between the two countries have been growing recently. During the visit of Singapore’s Permanent Secretary of Defence, Chiang Chie Foo to New Delhi last week, the two countries signed an agreement on conducting joint training and exercises between the Indian Air Force and the Republic of Singapore Air Force.

The Singapore Navy participated in the five nation Malabar 2007 naval exercises, hosted by India in the Bay of Bengal off Andaman and Nicobar islands between September 4 and 9, which was also represented by the navies of the US, Japan and Australia.

A contingent of over 100 soldiers from the Singapore Army will be holding a training exercise at Deolali, near Nasik in Maharashtra, this month. (ANI)
