Amritsar, Jan.11 (ANI): Heads of various Gurdwaras situated in the United States and Canada have expressed their resentment over the changes made in the NanakShahi Calendar, the only Sikh calendar, by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak committee (SGPC), the premier body of the Sikhs, in meet held at Fremont (San Francisco) on Sunday.

The meet lasted for three hours, during which the heads of various Sikh organizations expressed their objection to the changes made by SGPC recently in NanakShahi calendar.

Following the meet, a resolution was passed by the heads said that as far as more than 25 Gurdwaras’ head that were unable to reach at Fremont Gurdwara for the meeting have sent their consent to the resolution.

The organizers claimed that they are consonantly in touch with other heads of the organizations situated in various countries of the world.

The resolution says that the various Gurdwara out rightly rejected that the amendments made to the NanakShahi Calendar, which was made without taking appropriate processors. In a meeting all the heads agreed to observe all the Sikh gurpurbs according to the old NanakShahi calendar that was adopted by the Sikh panth (community) on April 14, 2003.

Talking to ANI from the U.S over phone, Dr. Pritpal Singh, convener American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (AGPC) said, “We would urge Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs, to reconsider the appeal of the Sikh Diaspora to cancel the amendments which was recommended by the SGPC since neither the consensus was made in the community nor the right processor was adopted before the changes were made in the NanakShahi calendar.”

Dr. Singh informed that the AGPC, with the assistance of other organization, is holding an international seminar on March 13 where internationally renowned experts on the calendar including Pal Singh, the founder of NanakShahi calendar, Mr. Casside from Berkeley would participate. He informed that they would celebrate the New year on March 14 as per the Nanakshahi Calender adopted in 2004. (ANI)

The Sikh Diaspora Must Be Sincere, Honest and Joint In Its Approach for the Cause

The Sikhs among Sikh Diaspora must be sincere, honest to keep them joint for the cause as has been pointed time to time by the Sikh Vichar Manch, representing the voice of common Sikhs based on ground realities without doing any business or politics on the serious religious issues faced by Sikhs since long.

    The Indian Spoiled System

Think Twice Before Toeing, Narrating or Propagating Your Line and One-sided Stories

    1. Would the Sikh Sangat including Sikh Diaspora world wide be ready to see ‘The Indian Spoiled System’ with the help of spectacles and the eyes of Sikh Vichar Manch before giving your advice and suggestions, to the thieves, the rulers or the persons in queue to be so, by attending their seminars, conferences, conventions, meetings, Dharnas etc?
    2. Are you so powerful and prepared to question their (the thieves, rulers or in queue to be so) very inception and at whose instance and at whose cost, they were and are in field? In short, question them, who are they?
    3. Are you, yourself not one of the thieves, the rulers or the persons in queue to be so?
    4. Will ever be any meaningful effect of your independent advice and suggestions on them?
    5. If you are independent and or mentally powerful and prepared to know, question and competent to do the analysis of all this, would ever you be invited and or tolerated to address such seminars, conferences, meetings, Dharnas etc conducted by them?
    6. I don’t think you can answer, independently, positively and conclusively in view of the ground realities prevailing in India.
    7. Then, to whom to suggest or advise for reforms in ‘The Indian Spoiled System’?

Please do link and read and comment independently-Thanks

Is it one of the election stunts only, planned between the parties for the election of SGPC to be held in this year?
    Or
Is there any substance to make out a meaningful case on the ground that
the committee set up by SGPC lacks competence in field of both calendars and religious dates and it also lacks legal authority to deliberate on such matters as alleged in the plaint claimed?

Nanakshahi Calendar: Was it Made To Unite or Divide Sikhs

    http://sikhsangat.org/2010/01/nanakshahi-calendar-was-it-made-to-unite-or-divide-sikhs/

The new Nanakshahi Calender is like a double edged weapon and the opportunists can use it either way, politically and religiously for doing business cunningly, to unite or divide Sikhs.

Otherwise, it will not make any difference to the genuine common Sikhs and for the others, the issue never would be dead as it can be reopened by those who shall come in power to rule Sikhs by the divide and rule policy as being practiced and followed in independent India.

The intellectual and opportunists from the business and the political class would also never be happy, either way, if the issue of Nanakshahi Calender is solved or dead permanently.

It may be my negative view of the issue, but must consider it. You all, including the genuine intellectuals belonging to the non-business and the non-political class, are free to see the disputed issue positively in order to solve it determinedly and forever amicably without allowing distortion, misrepresentation of Gurbani, principles and Sikh history.

To avoid division in Sikhs, there are also other issues remained to be solved, faced by Sikh community.

The opportunists are required to be checked for the purpose.

    Thanks
