Sibal calls for efforts to propagate Hindi
September 29th, 2010 - 8:46 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Sep 29 (ANI): Union Human Resource and Development Minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday expressing confidence called upon the people to make united efforts for the progress of Hindi and reduce the gap between the spoken and written words in Hindi.
“It is not difficult to work in Hindi in fact all Union Government offices should initiate and adopt the methods to work in Hindi. I am pleased to note that the Hindi language today is taught in 135 countries,” said Sibal after inaugurating the golden Jubilee celebrations of the Central Hindi Directorate.
The Central Hindi directorate was setup on March 10, 1960 as a subordinate office under the Ministry of Education with a view to speed up the promotion, propagation and development of Hindi.
The Directorate initiated several other programs for the promotion of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking States.
The apex body of the Central Government is persistently engaged in the execution of several of important schemes for imparting an all India character to Hindi, connecting divergent people through this language and striving to get a place of prestige for it at the global level. (ANI)
