Shivraj Patils resignation accepted

Jakarta, Nov 30 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, who is visiting Indonesian Capital Jakarta, has accepted Union Home Minister Shivraj Patils resignation after it was forwarded to her by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh this afternoon.
Talking exclusively to ANI in Jakarta, Presidents Deputy Press Secretary Nitin Wakankar said that Patils resignation has been accepted.
He also said that Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram would be the countrys new Home Minister, and that the Prime Minister will himself look after the Finance Ministry.
However, there was no official confirmation about the fate of resignation of the National Security Adviser, though a section of the media reported that he would be asked to continue at least for the time being.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has called an emergency cabinet meeting to discuss the situation arising in the aftermath of Mumbai terror strikes. The meeting is slated to take place at PMs official residence 7 RCR. (ANI)
