Shiv Sena not to disrupt IPL matches, says Bal Thackeray
February 16th, 2010 - 10:28 pm ICT by ANIMumbai, Feb.16 (ANI): Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Tuesday said that his party activists should not get into a matter which holds little importance to the countrymen and hence should avoid objecting to Australian cricketers’ participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League tournament.
“Talking about love for one’s nation has become useless these days. Why should our Shiv Sanikis (Shiv Sena activists) get into such a matter? Let the Australian cricketers play, a private channel quoted Thackeray as saying.
On Monday, Thackeray had threatened to disruption to the Indian Premier League’s upcoming tournament during its Mumbai matches if Australian cricketers participated.
Shiv Sena is raising objection to Aussie players’ participation over the unabated racial attacks on Indian nationals Down Under and that government’s casual approach. (ANI)
