Seven Trinamool Congress workers injured in clash with CPI-M

Birbhum (West Bengal), Apr 20 (ANI): At least seven Trinamool Congress workers were injured and three went missing after a clash with Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) cadres at Thupsara Village in Birbhum District on Sunday.

Trinamool workers have alleged that the CPI-M had started playing tricks of atrocities in order to stop opposition candidates from contesting the May 18 panchayat polls.

According to sources, the CPI-M cadres have tried to stop Trinamool workers from doing door-to-door campaign.

Earlier on Saturday, at least eight supporters of the Bhoomi Uchched Pratirodh Committee were injured in a clash that erupted with CPI-M cadres.

On Friday, Trinamool Congress activists surrounded the Nandigram police station to protest the arrest of three party activists for their alleged involvement in the killing of a CPI-M Panchayat Samiti member last year.

The Trinamool Congress had alleged on Thursday that its three candidates for panchayat elections were missing from Khejuri. (ANI)
