Seven trains cancelled in Jharkhand, Bhubaneswar following Maoist shutdown
July 7th, 2010 - 7:37 pm ICT by ANIRanchi/Bhubaneswar July 7 (ANI): Seven trains were cancelled and routes of five diverted in Jharkhand as Maoists began their two-day shutdown in seven states in protest against what they allege the killing of their top leader in Andhra Pradesh.
In Orissa, trains passing through Maoist-hit areas were cancelled and short terminated on the East Coast Railways (ECoR). The cancelled trains include Palamau Express, Barwadih-Dehri Asansol Express, Tata-Kharagpur Express and Chakradharpur-Gomo Express. Bhubaneswar-Koraput Hirakhand Express which left Bhubaneswar yesterday will go to Koraput, but would return to Rayagada. Similarly, Koraput-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express to leave Koraput today will run from Rayagada to Bhubaneswar and will be cancelled between Rayagada and Koraput, ECoR officials said. Bhubaneswar-Koraput-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express leaving Bhubaneswar today will be bring to halt at Rayagada and will be cancelled between Rayagada and Koraput tomorrow. Howrah-Koraput-Howrah Samaleswari Express which left Howrah yesterday and reached Rayagada today will end its journey at Rayagada. The train will return to Howrah tomorrow. A similar procedure would be followed for the same train, which left Howrah today, they said. Howrah-Koraput-Howrah Samaleswari Express will remain cancelled between Rayagada and Koraput, the officials said. Similarly, Rourkela-Koraput Express arriving Koraput today will return to Rayagada and run as Koraput-Rourkela Express from Rayagada instead of Koraput. The train has been cancelled between Koraput and Rayagada. Rourkela-Koraput Express leaving Rourkela today and tomorrow will halt at Rayagada and return as 8108 Koraput-Rourkela Express from Rayagada. The train will remain cancelled between Koraput and Rayagada. The trains whose routes have been diverted include Howrah-Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express, Howrah Varanasi Intercity Express and Tata-Jammu Tawi Express. (ANI)
