Srinagar, Jan.3 (ANI): Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, a separatist leader in Jammu and Kashmir, has admitted some prominent men of the secessionist movement were killed by their own people. They included the father of Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Gani Lone and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) ideologue Professor Abdul Ahad Wani.
Addressing a seminar on ‘Role of Intellectuals in the Kashmir Movement’ here on Sunday, Prof. Bhat said: “The truth is that Ahad sahib was not killed by Indian forces, he was not killed by Kashmir Police. Ahad sahib was killed by you. He was killed by his own people. Omar (Mirwaiz Umar Farooq) sahib’s father was killed by his own people. You will have to speak out the truth if not today but tomorrow.”
On May 21, 1990, unidentified armed-men barged into the house of Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq, the father of Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and killed him.
Abdul Ahad Wani was gunned down on December 31,1993, by unknown assailants whereas Abdul Gani Lone was eliminated on May 21 in 2002. (ANI)
