Secretaries to explore ways to improve governance in India

New Delhi, Feb 3 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, will on Friday inaugurate the two-day conference of Chief Secretaries being organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.
Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V.Narayanasamy, Cabinet Secretary and Secretary (Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances), Secretaries of the Ministries/Departments, Chief Secretaries of the States/Union Terrotories and senior officials will attend the conference.
The conference will deliberate on transparency and ethics in governance and the area of concern in some flagship programmes of the government like Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and Non-Conventional Energy Sources Programme; Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana; Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme and National Rural Drinking Water Programme.
There will also be sessions on Internal Security and Results Framework Document (RFD) Initiative.
The conference has institutionalised the process of interaction with States/UTs. It serves as a standing forum for exchange of views between the Centre and the States.
It also provides an occasion for discussion on global developments that have a bearing on the country as a whole and the broad contours of national policies in select areas of relevance.
This conference also helps in ensuring an integrated and holistic approach towards the development of the country. (ANI)
