Scientific Advisor to Defense Minister Dr. Saraswat to visit Leh on Thursday

Dr. VK Saraswat will visit the affected areas of Leh as well as Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), the Defence Research and Development Organisation laboratory (DRDO) in Leh on Thursday.
Secretary, Deptt. of Defence Research and Development and Director General, DRDO will accompany him during this daylong visit.
During his visit, Dr. VK Saraswat will meet scientists and staff of DIHAR which was severely affected during the recent cloud burst and the floods.
He will also visit the DRDO relief camp at 2.30 p.m. and meet victims of this natural calamity.
Earlier on receipt of the information about the flash floods, Dr. Saraswat had formed a team headed by Dr. W Selvamurthy, DS & CC R&D (LS) for organizing relief operations in Leh, an official release stated here today.
A Medical help including essential medicines, water potability detection kit, water purification tablets, food materials, blankets, bed sheets, sweaters etc were rushed to Leh for providing succor to victims of natural calamity.
Since then, the relief operations have been going on in full swing.
GOC 14 Core and Indian Air Force have been providing valuable support in relief operations carried out by DRDO. (ANI)
